Typing Replaces Text instead of inserting it

Somehow I changed some setting that's making my typing replace text instead of inserting it. I don't know what key combo I hit to make it do that, but I can't really keep working with it like this.

Normally I would spend the time to search and browse through the forums until I can find my answer, but I'm working on a deadline and I've already wasted too much time looking for it on google.

Please someone help me... or redirect me to a post/help page with the info.
