sroprogger
Okay - Ill try to make it as clear as possible So I am trying to make a programm that reads a .XML file, finds a specific line and replaces it with new information But the problem is that i cant just use _FileWriteToLine, because the part i want to replace is always on different lines - so i need to find a way to find the line that i want to replace Maybe search for a keyword - but how do i do that ? i would appreciate your answers/comments Edited February 4, 2009 by sroprogger
SpookMeister
read the file line by line, check if the current line is the one you need to replace, replace if so, write the current line to a new file ... repeat till you are finished then copy the new file to the old one. Helpful tips:If you want better answers to your questions, take the time to reproduce your issue in a small "stand alone" example script whenever possible. Also, make sure you tell us 1) what you tried, 2) what you expected to happen, and 3) what happened instead.Useful links:BrettF's update to LxP's "How to AutoIt" pdfValuater's Autoit 1-2-3 Download page for the latest versions of Autoit and SciTE
<glyph> For example - if you came in here asking "how do I use a jackhammer" we might ask "why do you need to use a jackhammer"<glyph> If the answer to the latter question is "to knock my grandmother's head off to let out the evil spirits that gave her cancer", then maybe the problem is actually unrelated to jackhammers
