I pretty much automated 99% of the things I needed on the computer.

How do I automate boring tasks Outside of the computer?

actually, I wonder, can autoit automate things like printers, scanners, photocopiers... and if so, I wonder if it can automate faxes also (all in 1 printer)

Sure,

You will need a relay board. Google for them. Many mount to a virtual COM port which can be automated. I'm not an expert and haven't tried...

CyberZeroCool did some work on similar tasks, so have a look at that

Hi to everyone who answered

Actually it was not a joke, but more like a wish.

We have great control over what happens on the computer,

but outside of it, the only thing missing, is like manjish said, a robot.

(relays are the easy part.. but something that would be able to hold a glass or a plate correctly, no matter on what angle it was, etc etc, that would be the hard part..

or hold a shirt and fold it..)

Too bad there isn't a good and cheap robot like that already.

Could free up more time to huge amounts of people on earth.

Hey Zohar.. no offense.. just thought it was more like a joke..

Anyways.. ur wish is not impossible.. but will take a lot of knowledge effort and time.. not only in scripting and autoit.. but also indepth knowledge about electronics..

As my Final year engineering project i had made a robot arm.. that could do pretty much do everything u said.. related to hand motions.. so i know what it takes to do that.. a lot of patience, hard work.. and money too..

If u have good amount of money.. just buy it.. .. if not then build it..

If I try to break down the task to parts, then:

1) getting a good, accurate robot arm is possible. will not be cheap, but it is possible.

2) relays and stuff is very cheap and very easy.

3) there is a need for "eyes" - something that will see. again not expensive, But:

4) the part that perceives what it sees, would be the more difficult part.

so to sum up, the 2 main reasons this has not been implemented yet,

is because the robot will need very accurate arms, which is not cheap,

and the part that sees objects and is able to analize what it sees, will take alotttt of programming.

hopefully we'll get to see this happen during our lifetimes.

eye done thru CCD cameras.. image recognition.. done throu DSP (refer to MATLAB).. will take a lot of time and effort.. v difficult..

do u know anything about driver?? motors.. gears?? best to use stepper motors to move the joints..

programming is pref done by using microcontrollers like PICC or ATmega80s.. which is not the hardest part at all..

I don't know about autoit.. haven't ever done any hardware prog here..
