Silly input boxes (or me...)

For some obscure reason my input boxes in my GUI's decide to have a return value that is a number, rather than what I type in - and the number is always the same....

I tried it with this script...

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

GUICreate ("Test")
   $input = GUICtrlCreateInput ("", -1, -1, 300, 20)
   $button = GUICtrlCreateButton ("TRY", 10, 30)
GUISetState ()
do
   $msg = GUIGetMsg()
   select
      case $msg = $button
         Msgbox (48, "result", $input)
   endselect
until $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

And it comes back "3" every time

am i going mad or is there something I forgot to put in (an include or something?)

You show the control's handle in stead of its value.

Use: GuiCtrlRead($input)

In the help file you will find a function called GUICtrlRead(). It's a wonderfull function that you can use to perform miracles.

No problem. That's what I'm here for, to hand out a bit of abuse and then take off.
