sending ASCII via com port (rs232)

Hi everyone,

I am totally new to autoit and to programming, so i need your help very much.

At our datacenter we use powerbars that uses a rs232 communication and ASCII.

Now i want to make executables so that by using one executable i can get for example to power consumption on that moment.

Now we use visual basic but than we need to click buttons to get this information.

Why i want executables? so i can use it with cacti a program that can turn numbers into graphs (like mrtg)

I want to do a polling every 5 minutes running one or more of the executable getting every 5 minutes the power usage at that moment, so our customer can see the usages.

Can anyone help me?
