Webcam as light sensor

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I need to use a normal USB webcam as light sensor using Autoit.

All I need is to get some "light" number, that depends on the light from the cam. For example - if its a day, the number will be 70 of 100. If its night, the number will be 10 of 100.

I know this is complicated, but if someone know how can it be done, I will be very happy.

Thank you in advance.

Just add up al the pixel colour values in a certain region and divide by the number of pixels. Try the same thing in what you want to consider as dark and what you want to consider as light and take the average. Then anything above that value is light and anything below is dark.
