RS1990
I have been searching all over to try and figure out how to start the Windows Search Companion because Windows Search 4.0 on Windows XP (which I can bring up with WIN+F) cannot find folders unless I index them all. Is there an easy run command that I can call to bring up the correct Windows search to find non-indexed folders?

GEOSoft
I don't think he wants to remove the hook at all. He just wants the ability to search non-indexed folders. Windows Search 4 hates it when I turn off the indexing service. Thats also standard with me because I hate that damn indexing. George Question about decompiling code? I don't mind using that for when I actually want an indexed search. I am just wondering what the call is to get to regular search...there must be some exe that gets called to bring that companion search window up...no? RS1990
but as far as i remember, i have always seen the option for windows search companion appearing at the bottom left of the screen! (in win xp)lemme check it and confirm tomoroIt does appear there. So you would suggest that in my AI script, I just bring up the other search with WIN-F and then move the mouse to the bottom left and click there to bring up companion search? Certainly do-able, was just hoping that there was a cleaner way of going straight to the companion search. Thanks.
