HotKeySet - Help

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am a beginner in Autoit scripts I need your help in understanding how HotKeySet functions. I read the manual and tried few examples of HotKetSet but somehow when I tried this simple script is not working.

HotKeySet("#n", "openNotepad")

Func openNotepad()
    ToolTip('Script for opening notepad',0,0)
    run("Notepad.exe")
    WinActivate("Untitled - Notepad")
    WinWaitActive("Untitled - Notepad")
    Send("This seems to work")

EndFunc

I run this script but it is not displayed in tray icons, it flashes and exits. Could someone explain me why this script fails?

Thanks!

AutoMate,

You need to keep the script active - use a While...WEnd loop like this:

HotKeySet("{ESC}", "_exit")
HotKeySet("+!d", "getmsg");Shift-Alt-d

MsgBox(0, "Hot Key Check", "Hot Key Check")

While 1
    Sleep(10)   ; Important or you max out the CPU
WEnd

Func getmsg()
       MsgBox(0, "Hot Key Check", "It Works")
EndFunc

Func _exit()
       ToolTip("Script terminated")
        Exit 0
EndFunc
