I run XP but as i tested my code on Vista/Windows 7 i noticed the extended style "$WS_EX_STATICEDGE" applied to a GUICtrlCreateListView caused Vista to not show text in the control, under XP it works fine. Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?

Changed the GUICtrlCreateListView example to demonstrate the issue. Remember it's only affecting Windows Vista/Windows 7

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#Region Constants

;<ListViewConstants.au3>
Global Const $LVS_EX_CHECKBOXES = 0x00000004
;<ListViewConstants.au3>

#EndRegion Constants
Opt('MustDeclareVars', 1)

Example()

Func Example()
    Local $listview, $button, $item1, $item2, $item3, $input1, $msg

    GUICreate("listview items", 220, 250, 100, 200, -1, $WS_EX_ACCEPTFILES)
    GUISetBkColor(0x00E0FFFF)  ; will change background color

    $listview = GUICtrlCreateListView("debug",5,40,466,200, -1,$WS_EX_STATICEDGE) ; remove $WS_EX_STATICEDGE for text.
    $button = GUICtrlCreateButton("Value?", 75, 170, 70, 20)
    $item1 = GUICtrlCreateListViewItem("item2|col22|col23", $listview)
    $item2 = GUICtrlCreateListViewItem("item1|col12|col13", $listview)
    $item3 = GUICtrlCreateListViewItem("item3|col32|col33", $listview)
    $input1 = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 20, 200, 150)
    GUICtrlSetState(-1, $GUI_DROPACCEPTED)   ; to allow drag and dropping
    GUISetState()
    GUICtrlSetData($item2, "ITEM1")
    GUICtrlSetData($item3, "||COL33")
    GUICtrlDelete($item1)

    Do
        $msg = GUIGetMsg()

        Select
            Case $msg = $button
                MsgBox(0, "listview item", GUICtrlRead(GUICtrlRead($listview)), 2)
            Case $msg = $listview
                MsgBox(0, "listview", "clicked=" & GUICtrlGetState($listview), 2)
        EndSelect
    Until $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
EndFunc   ;==>Example

It's definitly a bug. I posted the same issue almost exact 2 years ago (26 August 2007 >_< ), but i didn't have a vista to test and see whats wrong. And by the way, the same bug is reproducable on Win 7.

Thanks for revealing the problem :(

ah forgot about this thread, once i submitted the bug to trac. Here's the ticket and answer from the bug tracker.

Changed 3 weeks ago by Jpm.

Ticket #1106 (closed Bug: Wont Fix)

* status changed from new to closed

* resolution set to Wont Fix

Definitely Vista does not accept to set the data windows return and error so the listviewitem is not created as you can see if you check the creation result.
