The following are some UDFs that can be used to deal with power schemes. (such as balanced or high performance) I've tested on Windows 7 and XP and it should be compatible with Vista. However it would be nice if someone could test it on Vista. These functions should be useful for changing power schemes on the fly. I am also posting a program I have written that makes use of these UDFs.

_PowerScheme_List()
_PowerScheme_GetActive()
_PowerScheme_SetActive($sGUID)
