DllCall Code Generator

DllCall is a powerful way to use AutoIt code to run functions that were created in other languages and are stored in shared libraries outside of AutoIt. With DllCall, you can call Windows APIs directly, execute pieces of code that shipped with another vendor's product, and pass information between that code and your own script. However, DllCall is intended for the advanced user who is already familiar with how that stuff works. That definitely isn't me, and I find the process of converting variable types, handling ByRefs with odd syntax, and keeping track of return values in an array cumbersome. So I wrote a script to help me with it. It should help beginners get started with DllCall too. I was a little surprised that I didn't find something like this on the forum already. Maybe the intended audience doesn't have the same trouble that I do, or maybe those who don't "get" it don't care enough to. I'm hoping to bridge that gap a little. With this script, you can input the information from the MSDN documentation on a DLL function straight into the GUI and it will generate AutoIt code to call it and return its data. You can choose whether to report debugging information via ConsoleWrite or MsgBox or neither. It doesn't handle fancy things like DllStructs and callbacks, but it may help you get started. A great tutorial I used when I was starting to learn this stuff myself is Dealing with DLLs in AutoIt by Andreas Karlsson. My script is intended as a programmatic approximation of the concepts on pages 1 to 8 of that document. It is not a replacement for a good tutorial and self-learning. I wrote it as a shortcut for my own future use because I only wanted to learn it once. :-) Here it is. Every time you need to be sure that the data has been written to disk. Let's say a "transaction" consists of 3 writes to a file. The "transaction" is fully processed when all data is being written do disk. That's when FileFlush is being needed. You need FileFlush if you want full control over a file. worked very well for me, and I noticed it here at just the right time! saved me from activating and deactivating about 3,000 cells for excel to do it by itself. As an aside, since you seem to be the excel guru, is there a way to write a @CRLF to have multiple lines in a single cell? currently, I do this by including an HTML tag (<br>) and use a macro to convert those to newline characters in what I call "post processing", but I'd prefer not to have to do that, if at all possible.1 point -

On x64 Vista and Windows 7, file system redirection redirects calls to the system32 folder by 32-bit programs to the syswow64 folder, but there is no 32-bit version of System Restore (rstrui.exe) in the syswow64 folder. This is the first of a series of posts about SQLite extensions, mostly revolving around Unicode string manipulation where non-ASCII characters are involved. First here is a couple of functions to handle loading .DLL extensions. I'll do my best to have them included some day in the standard SQLite UDF, as these functions are completely generic and extensions are an excellent (sometimes absolutely required) supplement to this superior tool. Usage: Use _SQLite_EnableExtensions($hConn, $OnOrOff) to enable or disable extension loading for a given connection. By default, SQLite doesn't allow users to load extension as a security feature. This call is needed before any extension can be loaded. Use _SQLite_LoadExtension($hConn, $sFullPath, $sEntry = 'sqlite3_extension_init') to load an extension .dll that will be available to the $nConn connection only. $sEntry is the DLL entry point name. Loading of extensions must have been enabled before. Use _SQLite_LoadAutoExtension($sFullPath, $sEntry = 'sqlite3_extension_init') to load an extension .dll that will be available to each new connection only, during the same SQLite session. $sEntry is the DLL entry point name. There are advantages and drawbacks in both loading and auto-loading extensions. This will be exposed in full detail in the Unifuzz post, any time soon. I didn't add support to "unload" a function that was loaded as part of an extension. When you load an SQLite extension, you load new functions and/or override existing scalar or collation core functions. It's possible to "forget" custom functions on an individual basis and revert to code functions which have been overriden. I didn't see anyhing healthy in such feature. I consider that if a someone actually needs to use a function on such an intermittent basis, then there's a fundamental design flaw. Anyway, you know the thing is possible. Note that there is as well an SQLite API to unload all auto-extensions. That shouldn't be necessary either. Almost forgot to add: it is also possible to load certain extensions using SQL: "SELECT load_extension('full path of .dll', 'entry point name');" But again, loading of extensions need to be allowed beforehand.
