  1. Aye, OK. Correct me if I am wrong (a permanent vacation I do not fancy!), but I don't remember voting for anybody at all...? I rarely login. I lookin' regularly. Adding Guinness's portability of Autoit to my (any IT guys) arsenal I think is a valid consideration. (Would someone vote on my behalf please?) Thanks again Guinness.
  2. Hello Guinness, again intuitively I later realised: re-run Autoit Creator! (With any new release files.) Being a beginner/dabbler I really would like to use Portable Autoit exclusively. Personally, right now, I see no reason otherwise. Self-contained with any files, scripts, projects etc I may have in a "work in progress" folder within my "Portable Autoit" folder on a usb stick..... Many thanks. P.S. I would like to vote I like it but am unable to do so (it seems I have used up my quota for the day when I try (I voted recently?)) Also, does anybody know why I have warn status against my account? I f I select it it is blank?
  3. Marvellous Guinness! (As it turns out I have just come back to this posting to say that I realised what I needed to do (launch Autoit.exe!) and that it works perfectly. Many thanks.) But while we are doing the idiots guide, (hope I am not testing your patience here too much though I am very new to Autioit ), how should I update the portable version when a new version of Autoit or Scite is released? I'm thinking that I would like to use the portable version exclusively.
  4. Hello Guinness, I am very interested in this but can't seem to make it work. From the download link (http://softwarespot.wordpress.com/code/autoit-portable/) I have followed the links to download the zip file and the sfx.exe. Both files are in the autoit creator folder on a memory stick. When I highlight and drag both files on to the gui it says "creating autoit portable". After a few minutes it closes. I was expecting a new folder with to be created with the portable app. What am I doing wrong? TIA
  5. Hi trancexx, "Line:6, Column:1, Error:(null), Code:800401E4, Source:(null)" 3. Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") 4. WshShell.Run "h:\AutoItServer.exe" 5. 6. Set oAutoIt = GetObject("AutoIt.Application") ' the magic Falls over for me at Line 6.(?) Does there need to be a pause or return code from WshShell.Run?
  6. This likely a no-brainer but forgive me please for getting carried away. I very recently started learning Javascript and have investigated jsc.exe. I am impressed by this application of Autoit (and , indeed I should emphasise AutoIt) and would like to create (in the future) standalone exes (if possible) either in a language like javascript or in Autoit (or both (oh, get to the point man!) that make muliti-script language usage. How would I accomplish this? The key being to start the server and kill the server on exit. TIA
