Enriched
I have data to backup (Straight copy, no compression required) that exceeds the size of a DVD disk. I would like to automate splitting the data into several chunks of 4.2GB. I cannot find a command to list the folder(s) tree, that I could write the folder tree info to an array. Can anyone give me some ideas on how to do this? ------------------------------------------------------ My thinking My idea is to write folder tree, plus files, plus file size to an array. Sort array on file size, largest to smallest. Compare file size to available space. write largest size files first and see if I am able to write rest of folder contents in one chunk, else split to second chunk. Moderators Melba23 Posted August 14, 2009 Moderators Share Posted August 14, 2009 Enriched,First, welcome to the AutoIt forums.Search the forum for recursive file search scripts - there are lots of them about (including some of mine... >_< ). That will get you a list of files. Then you will need to use FileGetSize to find out their sizes, and _ArraySort to get them in the order you want. You may have to do some work to get a sorted folder tree - it took me a long time to get as close as I have with my current version.Try coding something yourself to begin and come back if you run into problems - you know where we are and we always prefer it when people have at least made some attempt at it first!M23 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
