Background pixel functions

This is just an idea, which I cannot verify but might be interesting. It would mean screenshotting offscreen could be possible.

Could you set up a dummy monitor with a dummy driver, move a window to it and then simply get the pixels of its dc? The user would not know the difference. It would need installing so would not be a single function solution, but if you intend the computer to be doing a lot of background work then it could be useful.

In short, yes, you can create a "virtual" monitor. I suggest starting with the WDK. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/wdk/default.mspx
