Doghouse
Thank You! Please pardon my silly questions. I just heard about AutoIt yesterday in response to a question on another forum. I'm still very green to AutoIt, but can see how it can help automate several of my dialy tasks. Please bear with me while I try to learn.

Doghouse
Along the same line of inquiry, when writing a script to automate repetiative proceedures, would I write the SEND command comments to conform to the AutoIt syntax of the syntax of the program I'm working in. For example to simulate pressing the return button in AutoIt the command would be Send("{ENTER}"), but whe writing macros in the application I use at work I would enter ^m to simulate pressing the return button. Which method should I use?

Doghouse
Thanks! Another silly question, which would work better when operating an a DOS type environmment Send or ControlSend?
somdcomputerguy
I try to use ControlSend over Send (for Windows or DOS, too), except when I can't.. But I can't really say which operates better with a DOS window. Doghouse
The program works in windows, but operates more like a dos program. None of the Windows features work, you cannot click to move from place to place on the screen, all the navigation is done with the keyboard. This program is slated to be replaced next year, about 15-20 years over due.
somdcomputerguy
Use the AutoIt Window Info Tool (AU3Info) to see whatever can be got from a program, UIO wise anyway.. I'm sure if you posted particular things you were trying to accomplish, as well as any code you have gotten to the point of, would get you all kinds of assistance here.. - Bruce /*somdcomputerguy */ If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Doghouse
I'll start the more serious coding Tuesday when I get back to work. There are several areas that I cannot get too specific due to security restrictions. I work for a phone company and they're very touchy about sharing any info. Thanks for giving me a good place to start.
