What encoding is uses in RC4/RC2?

I was compared au-script and program in C# with the same string and password using:

ASCII

UNICODE

UTF-8

and all results were different from au-scripted.

Encryption is done on the binary bytes that result from encoding, not on the characters. In the same way, the data returned by decryption is binary and awaits whatever encoding into characters is required.
