MvGulik Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 (edited) RegWrite(), optional parameters. (?)Syntax: RegWrite ( "keyname" [,"valuename" [, "type" [, value]]] )Considering there optional (no terminal error if left out), should't they not also do something useful?Following 2 case's are more or less NOP case's. (always 0/error.)RegWrite ( "keyname" ,"valuename" )RegWrite ( "keyname" ,"valuename" , "type")Or from a practical (useful) use the syntax resolves toRegWrite ( "keyname" [,"valuename" , "type" , value] ) Edited June 28, 2011 by iEvKI3gv9Wrkd41u "Straight_and_Crooked_Thinking" : A "classic guide to ferreting out untruths, half-truths, and other distortions of facts in political and social discussions.""The Secrets of Quantum Physics" : New and excellent 2 part documentary on Quantum Physics by Jim Al-Khalili. MvGulik Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) Not a (complicated enough) AutoIt related matter I take it! (or to complicated ... Na, that would be just to silly.)I also take it using the tracker is the better way to get some closure.- Funny, as I though it was intended to work the other way around.- Never mind any potential additional information that might clear up this case, and potential similar other cases.- At least it will be kinda officially resolved that way.lol---Lets strike that last one. Easier to just draw a conclusion and drop that it in a box. Costing less energy, and no need to think about it anymore. jaberwacky Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I mean no disrespect but I put forth effort to gain understanding of this post but it was all for naught. trancexx Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 He's saying that optionality of some parameters is more something else than optional. ♡♡♡ . eMyvnE
jaberwacky Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) They're not as optional as it seems? Look, I'm an American. I need simplicity. I like my coffee black. MvGulik Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) He's saying that optionality of some parameters is more something else than optional.Something like that ... I guess.@LaCastiglione:The Syntax rule of RegWrite() is technically correct. But from a practical usefulness point of view its misleading/ambiguous.As the two case I highlighted are useless as they always fail.... Reminds me of a "Technical correct" Microsoft joke ...---They're not as optional as it seems?Yep.
