russell Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) So trying to unzip a readme i used this in dos cd C:\Program Files\7-Zip\ 7z.exe e -y readme2.7z Everything works fine. Then i use this code $val = RunWait (@ComSpec & " /c " & "C:\PROGRA~1\7-Zip\7z.exe e -y readme2.7z"); & $hDownload) @SW_MAXIMIZE) MsgBox(0, "Program returned with exit code:", $val,5) I get a return 2. So i go back to help and it says To run DOS commands, try RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c " & "commandName") ; don't forget " " before "/c" ???? use " " befor "/c"? ..........what? the example doesn't show that it is using RunWait(@ComSpec & " " " /c " & "commandName") it is referring to the "s around /c? , "s around @ComSpec? <--makes no sense. Either it is just poorly worded or its so simple im missing it Edited October 12, 2011 by russell muppet hands are so soft :)
BrewManNH Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 It is telling you that you need to include a space before the /c after @comspec. There's no way to indicate that you need a space there without highlighting it by the quotes. So the command would start like RunWait(@Comspec & " /c " If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. russell Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Ok that makes more sense. Then why would the code return 2 if the same code/command works in dos? muppet hands are so soft :)
russell Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) I think this would be more reasonable, but that just me To run DOS commands, try RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c " & "commandName") ; don't forget to use a space before "/c" to separate the & from the "/c" Edited October 12, 2011 by russell muppet hands are so soft :)
ParSalian Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) When you call RunWait using @ComSpec, it runs "cmd.exe" and instructs it to launch another program (in this case, 7z). So the return value is the one from CMD, not the one from 7Z. Have you tried to run CMD /c C:\PROGRA~1\7-Zip\7z.exe e -y readme2.7z from the command line? I'm making something similar, but I use RunWait directly, like RunWait($Command & " " & $Parameters,"",@SW_HIDE) It works... more or less. Having other problems in other post, but it does the work. Hope to help. Edited October 12, 2011 by ParSalian
