BrewManNH Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 This might be more what you're looking to do. #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstants.au3> $IP=InputBox("I.P. to Hostname", "Please enter the I.P. to lookup", "","", -1, -1, 0, 0) Run (@ComSpec & " /c " & "nbtstat -a " & $IP & " > " & @DesktopDir & "\Test.txt", @SystemDir, @SW_HIDE) $HostName= FileRead(@DesktopDir & "\Test.txt") MsgBox(4096,"HostName","The Host name is" & $HostName) You were trying to run a program and its command line in your script without actually using the Run command. The way I have written it, it will run the command and pipe it's output to a text file on your desktop, then the next line will read the contents of that file into the $Hostname variable and then displays that variable in the MsgBox. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day.
