theratzenator
I work in healthcare and there is a legacy DOS based program that is still being used that performs one particular function that is apparently very crucial. Don't ask me why we have not upgraded yet, because, I have no idea. Anyway, standard users need to have the ability to map a printer to the LPT1 port without Admin rights and I really do not know how to go about doing this. I would greatly appreciate any help on this. Thank you all very much. Edited November 29, 2011 by theratzenator
ZacUSNYR
Can you map to another port? I believe a standard user can't map to a port that has a physical port if they are not admin. If it needs to be lpt1 you'll have to elevate permissions. Are you the admin of these machines? Can you disable the lpt port in the bios and try the mapping? theratzenator
Yes, I am the admin. I guess I can disable it, then I think Windows will then just create a virtual port that a standard user can map to, if I am not mistaken.
