Arv2816 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I have created a GUI interface for Microsoft's User State Migration Tool. Does anybody know of a way for AutoIT to capture the return that is produced by scanstate.exe and loadstate.exe?
BrewManNH Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 There is an example that uses USMT that might help. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Arv2816 Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks for the response. I have seen that post before, however, it doesn't look like the script actually verifies scanstate.exe ran properly, it only waits for the process to close and then proceeds. The scanstate.exe and loadstate.exe command lines will return codes upon completion (see here). I looking for a way to have my AutoIT script read these codes and then display a message box based on their value. Any ideas?
BrewManNH Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Use RunWait to run the programs, RunWait returns the programs exit code. Country73 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 ShellExecuteWait should do the same thing. Straight from the Helpfile. Success: Returns the exit code of the program that was run Failure: Returns 0 and sets @error to non-zero $RetVal = ShellExecuteWait( 'Filename' [, 'parameters' [, 'workingdir' [, 'verb' [, showflag]]]]) MsgBox(0,'Return Value',$RetVal) If you try to fail and succeed which have you done?AutoIt Forum Search
Arv2816 Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thank you for the response. RunWait did the trick, I am now able to capture the return code from scanstate.exe. Unfortunatly the return code for a successful scanstate.exe is 0, which is the same as a failure return code from AutoIT. Is there any way to change the value returned by AutoIT for a failure?
BrewManNH Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 No you can't change that value, but if you get a zero back, just check the @error value, if it's also zero, then it completed ok.
