Parsing strings, need StringInStr help

Recommended Posts

Trying to extract the location of a version number in a log file (version number will be extracted next, haven't gotten that far yet)

Func Silverlight ()
   ;ComponentVersion=5.1.10411.0
   Dim $Silverlight
   Dim $CompVerLocate
   Dim $Version
   $Version = ("ComponentVersion=")
   fileopen("C:\Windows\Temp\SilverlightMSI.log")
   $Silverlight = fileread("C:\Windows\Temp\SilverlightMSI.log")
   $CompVerLocate = StringInStr("$Silverlight", "$Version")
   MsgBox (0,"",$Silverlight)
   MsgBox (0,"",$CompVerLocate)
   FileClose("C:\Windows\Temp\SilverlightMSI.log")
EndFunc

MsgBox #1 pops up, and contains the entire contents

MsgBox #2 pops up, and has a zero

What am I doing wrong?

You have the variables $Silverlight and $Version in quotes in the StringInString for $CompVerLocate, remove the quotes from it and it will return a number showing where in the string that it found the $Version number.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
