Encryption makes some files unreadable? (This one is legit.)

Recommended Posts

I was playing around with _Crypt functions, I just crypted and decrypted my Desktop using AES 256 bits. I see .lnk (links) and .txt (plain text) files have "survived", while all other files are unreadable.

Some files became 4 bytes long, opening them with Notepad shows me their content is 4 squares. Further analysis show that the 4 unreadable characters are "NUL" (00).

Also, some links don't work.

I attached an example of unreadable file.

GiulioM,

You might think it is legit - I think it is linked to your last locked thread. So guess what, this one gets locked too. Do NOT start another thread on encrypting folders. ;)
