Removing Unicode "Replacement Character" from a string

Hi all,

I'm working a script that downloads software test instructions from an internal site and places them into Excel spreadsheets. I noticed a lot of the test instructions have unknown characters in the body of text: 𐀑. Is there any way to remove all instances of the replacement character? I've tried the following, but it didn't seem to work.

$sTestInstructions = StringReplace( $sTestInstructions, '& #65533', '')

Any ideas how to do this properly?

If you mean the replacement character by itself (Unicode codepoint 65533 or hex FFFD) then ChrW(65533) will certainly work.

If you mean the string "&#65533" then remove the extra space in the target string.

I tried the following and I still get the replacement character in the Excel spreadsheet:

$sTestInstructions = StringReplace( $sTestInstructions, 'ChrW(65533)', '')

When I print $sTestInstructions to the console, all replacement characters appear as "?"s.

You sent the function as a string. That won't work.

$sTestInstructions = StringReplace( $sTestInstructions, ChrW(65533), '')

The SciTe console is ANSI only unless you change the default to Unicode UTF-8 (codepage 65001).
