GiulioM
I'm working on a quite complex project in AutoIt and well, I need some kind of "math engine" - capable of doing at least basic math step-by-step (not just like eval functions), and if possible higher maths (fractions, working with polynomiums, solving equation *up to* the 2nd degree, and maybe integrals, derivatives and limits). I know this kind of things do exist in other languages, just wondering if there's a (free) implementation of these things in autoit. Also, link. jchd
First things first. Now I wouldn't recommend embarking in such project by relying on an AutoIt-based CAS library, should one ever exist.OTOH you can still benefit of AutoIt rapid development for the front-end, data management and UI, and invoke a full-blown proven library, i.e. using DllCalls. cageman
I would advise to use matlab if its just some basic application that isn't really needed in production. It has all required math functions you describe.
jchd
Matlab and its clones won't do symbolic computations required by "working with polynoms, solving equations, integrals, derivatives, limits".Matlab is particularly well suited to problems involving mainly vectors and matrices.EDIT:Depending on your needs, you way get away with Wolfram Alpha: like that for instance. GiulioM
I am aware of W|A, but I needed its math features into a program (and not paying to get Mathematica).
jchd
Several CAS libraries can be compiled into a DLL which you can invoke from, say, any AutoIt program. Alternatively you can also interact with a product offering a complete front-end. Wolfram Alpha is just another way to submit maths problems and obtain solution within few seconds, most of the time.
