Triggering Sticky Keys with Autoit

Recommended Posts

Hello,

First and foremost I'm a great fan of Auto-it.

Recently i was given the task of trying to trigger the sticky key feature (pressing 5 times Shift button) as a part of a disability feature application.

Not all of our users can use the freely mouse, so we've grown a need to trigger sticky keys my pressing shift 5 times.

I've explored different solutions, but partially pure stubbornness i want to make this work.

I've tried without any success:

1 - Looping 5 times and more

Send("{SHIFTDOWN 1}")
Sleep(500)
Send("{SHIFTUP 1}")

2 - Send("{LSHIFT 5}")

This commands seems to work, but it won't trigger the sticky key feature

Was wondering if anyone could give me some input and toss me some ideas on how to accomplish this.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the input, helps some, but i am looking for for the "Sticky Keys" pop up windows that gets specifically triggered by pressing Shift 5 times.

I need this "Sticky Keys" windows to open immediately after certain users lock their workstation.

The only way i know is to press shift 5 times, and holding shift for over 8 seconds.

Was wondering by leveraging Auto-it i could trigger this Sticky Keys window almost instantly after desktop lock.

Thanks~

You can turn on specific StickyKey settings using _WinAPI_SystemParametersInfo and $SPI_SETSTICKYKEYS as the first parameter and a structure to turn on/off the features you want, in the third parameter.

Unfortunately I don't know how to do this exactly myself, but perhaps someone with more knowledge can use this link and this link to help.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
