Make a label at the bottom of the window, and have its text be dynamic?

Like the question, what direction should I take to make a label that can change its text.

Like the bottom of a browser for example, its got the black line and when you connect to websites it will show like "waiting for www.site.com" and it can change.. This has nothing to do with a browser its just an example..

So what should I do to begin with this since I couldn't find it in the Help doc...
