Communiction with the DNS server

I was just wondering how to to create a domain name. i know it is somthing to do with communicating with ted dns server so it can associate an ip with a hostname so dose any one know how

You have to buy the name from a domain registrar. The have the rights to distribute names under the TLDs. Domain names are pretty cheap if you just want the name with no hosting, and you can get them for a few dollars a year.

There are plenty of registrars.
