run(@comspec & ' /c net stop service')

don't forget the blank character before /c

True... Geerts solution requires a COM-enabled beta version of AutoIt

Raindancer WMI script needs Beta AutoIt as well. Net stop as JPM has supplied maybe enough, and works with the release version of AutoIt?

Your choice. SC.exe is a possibility to use as well?
