what happens with embedded resources?

Hello everyone 

I wonder if I use the Autoit ide (SciTE Version 3.3.0) and I embed some resources in the compiled exe what

happens with them if I run the compiled exe file?

Does the exe file (when you run it) put the resources on a temporary place or loads it in the memory?

maybe its a stupid question but i'm new with "embedding resources" and don't know how it works...
