Global Variables not Global?

When $U_BAR and $BTN_UP have been initialized the following code works

Func WTF($SET=0)
   If $SET=0 then
      Guictrlsetstate($U_BAR,$GUI_HIDE)
      Guictrlsetstate($BTN_UP,$GUI_SHOW)
   Else
      Guictrlsetstate($U_BAR,$GUI_SHOW)
      Guictrlsetstate($BTN_UP,$GUI_HIDE)
   EndIf
EndFunc

however this does not :

Func ChkUpdate($Force=0,$First=0)

   if (3600000 < TimerDiff($UpdateTMR)) or $Force=1 then ; 3600000 Milliseconds = 1 Hour
      $UpdateTMR=TimerInit()
      Guictrlsetstate($BTN_VC,$GUI_SHOW)
      Guictrlsetstate($BTN_UP,$GUI_HIDE)

----------------------------------------------------------- (Further code Truncated)

returns the following error :

Variable used without being declared.:
Guictrlsetstate($U_BAR,$GUI_HIDE)
Guictrlsetstate(^ ERROR

To complicate the matter further, if i call the WTF function from the ChkUpdate function it suddenly suffers from the same error message.

It appears that my ChkUpdate function is incapable of seeing any variable that contains a handle to a gui ctrl object.

Where are the variables declared? How are they declared?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

Variables are declared at the beginning of the script,

LINE 75 : $BTN_Up=GUICtrlCreateButton("Update",790,365,20,20,$BS_BITMAP)

LINE 104 : $U_BAR=GUICtrlCreateProgress(790,365,105,20)

Function Definitions begin at line 168.

I've tried defining the Variables as Global aswell, this has no effect.

You are either declaring them wrong or calling ChkUpdate() before line 75.

If you want something more specific, you'll have to ask a more specific question (READ: post code!).
