How to Get the Elapsed Time and the Total Time of a Video File in VLC?

Hi

 

When playing a video file using VLC, if you press t, it will show you on the screen the Elapsed Time and the Total Time.

This info is displayed over the video, OSD.

I need to get this info as a String,

for example "05:32, 30:00" or whatever format that it returns..

 

Is it possible to "ask" VLC for that and to receive it?
