Arashiyama
Hi, Is there any smart way to use a "CreateObject & GetObject methods"-like solution on Autoit scripts? My intention is to manipulate Word (such as running a Word macro) from an AutoIt script, not from a VBS script. I know I can do this (indirectly) by running a VBS script from an AutoIt script, but this isn't really cool... Any good idea?

Arashiyama
Searching for "object" on the help file has returned no matches! Also, I'm not talking about "clicking buttons" etc. Yes, you can manipulate Word in many ways if you let a AutoIt script click! I'm looking for a more direct way. Valik
The important piece of information Valuater left out of his cookie cutter response is that you need the beta version of AutoIt to use COM.
Arashiyama
Valik, thank you! Yes, this is what I was looking for! It would be easier to deploy if they make a complete package for the beta...

Valik
Maybe you could take that on as your next project!Or better yet, maybe he could explain what he means? There is an installer for the beta just like for the last official (stable) release so I don't really understand what the "deployment" hardship refers to. jpm
Valik, thank you!Yes, this is what I was looking for!It would be easier to deploy if they make a complete package for the beta...You have to install the official package and after the beta package. It is true you need to but we prefer that people can go back to the official release in case of nonregression. Definitly that's some overhead in the installation size but I think that's can be manage.
Valik
Oh, I forgot about that requirement. Yes, perhaps that does need removed. More often than not people aren't going to be able to go back, anyway, because a script is using one of the beta-only features.
