$MenuFile = GUICtrlCreateMenu("File")
$MenuGenerateFiles = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Generate", $MenuFile)
$MenuExportTemplate = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Export Data", $MenuGenerateFiles)
GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("", $MenuGenerateFiles) ; Create a separator line
$ExitMenu = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Exit", $MenuFile)

This is the code I'm using, but it fails to nest the "Export Data" under the "Generate" menu. Can anyone let me know what I'm missing here?

It does create the menus, but it doesn't put export data in the place I expected.

you need the "Generate" to be a menu, not a menu item:

; wrong:
$MenuGenerateFiles = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Generate", $MenuFile)
; correct:
$MenuGenerateFiles = GUICtrlCreateMenu("Generate", $MenuFile)
