Keep cursor on bar while scrolling

Newbie here.  When moving scroll bar vertically, I often slide off the bar (paying attention to window content instead). Is it possible to write an AutoIt script that would:
1) when I depress and hold down the left mouse button, recognize that cursor is on a scroll bar, and whether horizontal or vertical.
2) until mouse button is released, limit motion of cursor to selected scroll bar, even if mouse movement would otherwise move cursor off the bar.

If 1 above is not possible, perhaps using a control key during initial mouse button depression would be second choice.

Hints, if not complete code, would surely be appreciated.
