sending Barcode data to one guicrtlinput window

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to read a Usb barcode reader and put the data in a certain input control always.

So when data comes from this device it always updates the right window/ctrl or ignores if windows is not up.

This computer runs 2 monitors, where it is possibly the keyboard is active on another window.

A barcocde reader, at least most of them, emulate a keyboard. You can't have another window active if you want the text to go into the correct window. It would be like telling the computer to not input text into a window if your target window wasn't the active window, it would cause your keyboard to stop working as well.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

That wasn't what I wanted to hear..,but kind of knew.  The computer that would be running the code will be running 2 autoit programs only. nothing external ..it's a Kios.

1 Program only has 1 field of input and a couple of buttons. if Active which would only be a min or two I would like to disable the USB Barcode reader from working.   The other Program has dual modes.  Window 1 and window 2.  If window 1 exist. then window 2 deleted.

Window 2 has keyboard where I would like to disable the USB Barcode reader at this time. and then enable it when window 1 is backup.

I could do timers  (30 seconds) and/or after task complete on program 1 automatically make Window 1 of Program 2 active if exist.

I'm not sure how I would block the barcode reader on window 2, since I do not see where autoit would see what usb device a piece of text came from or how to temporary disable a certain usb port/device.
