Need to read or copy a text file from another computer over the internet, can anyone give a hint how to do this?

Do both PCs have a direct outward-facing IP address (unlikely)? Outside of this, you're going to have to rely on third party tools or some middle-man such as an FTP site. Windows is engineered not to allow copying from one PC to another across the internet with no intermediary, for obvious reasons.

Again, you could do that if you want to set up an externally facing ftp server. You have to understand how vague "write and read information from a server" is. What are you trying to send (files, client/server application stream, etc.)?

Does it have any free servers that I can send data to and receive a response?

If yes, please give me an example of how to do it.
