GUI Validation

I am having trouble locating tutorials about how to interrogate a vendor supplied GUI and validate that it does what it is supposed to do.

All of the Youtube videos seem to go into basic programming skills and writing your own interfaces.

I am currently writing test programs in C#, but do not have the skill set, yet, to write my version of Phantom Test (PTD) to test someone else's GUI's.

If there are any such tutorials and videos please point me in the right direct.

I have been using PTD, but because it is no longer actively supported, it is strongly deprecated by our IA security policies.

Any help would be appreciated.
