Draw a pixel on screen

Hi

I'm trying to draw a pixel on screen (outside any GUI).

I've been through lot of threads regarding drawing stuff on screen but the code is either not working anymore or too complex.

What would be the cleanest and easiest way to do so?

How about some examples of what isn't working or too complex? There are a number of ways to do this, I like a variation of this:
