Event ID 1904 from source HHCTRL

Recommended Posts

..so I'm playing around with the EventViewer_GetMyEntries() I put together and looking at the Event Viewer, I see a bunch of "Information" level entries with:

The description for Event ID 1904 from source HHCTRL cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

about:blank
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=45840

and I correlated it to the help file. Clicking anything in the help viewer creates a new entry.

Is this our help viewer creating the entry or is it the OS creating it ?

This is not a problem, just an observation.

... according to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/896358/ms05-026-a-vulnerability-in-html-help-could-allow-remote-code-executio

MS05-026: A vulnerability in HTML Help could allow remote code execution ( affecting XP/Server2003 only ).

The solutions they have are registry keys at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp] . So not a distro. issue but an OS one.
