enginestar
I've been using Autohotkey for keyboard shortcuts. It's great and really handy. PROBLEM: it works 80% of the time. 😕 Lets say I make a keyboard short cut for tbc. When typed and pressed, I should get 'to be continued'. On Autohotkey... 80% of the time it will work. When it doesn't work, I'll quickly select what I typed and try again. The second time, it works fine 99.8% of the time. This is winding me up. I hate it! I've tried other programs like Phraseexpress. That works flawlessly each and everytime. (I've tried program on the Mac that do similar, they too work on the Mac flawlessly.) I've learned to live with. But don't want to suffer anymore!! IMPORTANT: 98% of the time, I used on Chrome + in Windows Explorer, when I want to navigate to a folder. I just thought I would mention... in case the actual fault lay elsewhere (even though the likes of Phraseexpress worked flawlessly).
Danp2
I'm not an AHK guy and you didn't show us a reproducer, but I can only assume that the issue is with your coding. 😉 Why not write a short script in Autoit that demonstrates the issue? P.S. No idea what "tbc" is. Latest Webdriver UDF Release Webdriver Wiki FAQs
Gianni
I think OP wants to use a series of keys as macros, for example use the key sequence tbc to trigger sending a whole string, ie "to be continue". I think it is not possible to use HotKey to set more than one KEY at the same time or at least ctrl + shift + alt + KEY Perhaps what you need is a UDF that fires entire strings as a response on a series of KEYS typed in sequence on the keyboard. Moderators Melba23 Posted November 21, 2020 Moderators Share Posted November 21, 2020 enginestar, I suggest that you repost this complaint in the AHK forum - you might get a response there. Here in the AutoIt forum we are not really that interested. enginestar
In AHK I would have something like this: ::tbc::To be continued So, when I type tbc, this gets replace by 'To be continued' I'll have hundreds of these in a file that I load. As I said: this works 80% of the time. Other dedicated programs for this... do it 100% of the time. I have asked in AHK forums, but never got an answer that solved. Hence, I wanted to try Autoit. Let me know what you think. @Melba23 Not sure why you're so upset. I didn't realise there was a hatred of anyone who had used an alternative to autoit. 😕
Danp2
@enginestar Did you check out the thread @Chimp posted above? FWIW, I use the free version of PhraseExpress, and it occasionally misses one of my autotext commands. Moderators Melba23 Posted November 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted November 24, 2020 enginestar, Not upset and certainly no "hatred" involved. Your OP never mentioned AutoIt - it was just a rant against AHK and sounded as if it should have been posted in their forum. So now things are cleared up, welcome! M23  Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
