jimg Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 I'd like to access a foreign device to do some quick testing. The interface requires one CLK output and one DATA input, both TTL/CMOS levels. It's an odd protocol so I need to read the DATA and drive the CLK signals from a script. The CLK signal is limited to a 50us high time, so maybe the preposition is not doable with Windows 10. It appears the parallel port UDF is obsolete even if the 50us doesn't kill the idea? My alternative is to scrounge up an old PIC project with a serial port.
jchd Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Depending on the interface ports your PC/tablet has, you may either build your own PIC hardware/software or use a ready-made board similar to what's mentionned here: Of course either way will need some µC programming. jimg Posted November 5, 2023 Author Posted November 5, 2023 I dug out a PIC based breadboard I was using for an old project work and already have the code written. It's only about 40 lines of assembly, and I can just use breakpoints with the ICE to examine results.
