Modem driver installation on virtual COM port.

Recommended Posts

I could use a suggestion how to script installation of a generic modem (I have the INF file for it) on a virtual COM port (in this case COM5) created by DialOut IP program from Tactical Software.

I was able to create an installation package of the software and even script a creation of the virtual port, but unable to install the modem. I tried to use install capturing software, but that ofcourse screws up the existing modems on the target machine during the installation. Tried to use AU3Recorder from SciTE, but if the target computer has different number of COM ports then my computer then the wrong ports are being created.

Any ideas out there?

Oops sorry.

Anyway. Tried to use AutoITMacroGenerator. Gone as far as to the point where the COM port is to be selected. Then the controls of the "Add Hardware Wizard" become very strange and I am unable to select any COM port...

Still looking for ideas...
