GUICtrlCreateAvi() and compressed *.avi files

Recommended Posts

I want to put in my gui an avi animation I made in fla, exported as *.avi.

Now if I use Microsoft for compression the file weighs a reasonable 1.4 mb or so, but uncompressed the file is 14 mb. Big difference, but I'm quite sure your eye can't tell the difference.

Problem is 1) GUICtrlCreateAvi works with the uncompressed file, and 2) if I use $ACS_NONTRANSPARENT, the bits of the images are lost and look awful.

If I use a compressed file I get an error window (translated from Spanish os)

"avitest: autoit3.exe - incorrect image"

and msg as follows (translated from Spanish os)

"the application or DLL F:\path\bird_03.avi is not a valid windows image. Check your installation diskette. "

Has anyone had any success creating compressed avi videos?

misswording was probably going to get me wrong answers.,

Has anyone had any success using an avi control with a compress avi file?

To make things worse:

If the avi movie was not exported with a 24 bit depth there is a color diffusion... Not good if you want your avi movie to blend with the gui background. What was a 1.5 mb file now surpasses the 20 mbs.

I know Autoit is not a multimedia program, but its capabilities go beyond Macromedia and the likes, so for some stuff, it's much more adequate. Having said that, I think I'll just embed a browser with itself having an swf file embedded and get the movie to play from there. That way, I even shorten the movie to 450 kb, and this is much more suitable, even for a FileInstall.

On this same topic, can anyone give a general spec for the AVI file to be read?

For instance, if an AVI is created with xvid video and mp3 audio, and the xvid codec is installed on the system, should AutoIt be able to play it?
