CyberSlug Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 The Original RegShot 1.61e lets you take snapshots (takes < 30 seconds) of your registry and compare the differences. If you wanted to find the registry key for always showing file extensions, you could take snaphots before and after making the change in Folder Options. Example results:REGSHOT LOG 1.61e5 Comments: Datetime:2004/7/30 03:06:20 , 2004/7/30 03:06:51 Computer:COMPNAME , COMPNAME Username:Admin , Admin ---------------------------------- Values modified:1 ---------------------------------- HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1801674531-920026266-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\HideFileExt: 0x00000001 HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1801674531-920026266-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\HideFileExt: 0x00000000 ---------------------------------- Total changes:1 ----------------------------------I recently discovered that someone modified Regshot to return the results as a *.REG file!!!Download the new RegShot hereNOTE: This new version was designed as a plugin for Bart's PE Builder, so you need to extract RegShot.exe from the CAB. You don't need any of the ini files.Sample output of new version:Regshot 1.7 Datetime:2004/7/30 03:19:09 , 2004/7/30 03:19:43 Computer:COMPNAME , COMPNAME Username:Admin , Admin ---------------------------------- REGEDIT4 [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1801674531-920026266-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "HideFileExt"=dword:00000000 ---------------------------------- Values modified:1 ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Total changes:1 ---------------------------------- Finally, someone wrote a script to convert reg files to au3 files Use Mozilla | Take a look at My Disorganized AutoIt stuff | Very very old: AutoBuilder 11 Jan 2005 prototype I need to update my sig!
ezzetabi Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Very interesting. It is just a pity that you cant know anymore old values. (At lest it seems so.) Great, thanks!
VoSs2o0o Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 ...I use the good old Regmon from Sysinternals for that. But for some Registry-Keys your Tool is interesting AutoItMacroGenerator on my Homepage (Link 2)
this-is-me Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 If you are looking for a complete but free solution, I use installrite exclusively from http://www.epsilonsquared.com/ It correctly logs reg entries and files, and allows you to export new and old shots as regedit4 files. Who else would I be?
ezzetabi Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 I prefere RegShot for its simplicity. You have what you want and need.
