text to exel

hi

i need to make a script who real some characters form a text file (or a text input) and send it to a xls document

in the text file i have information on line like:

1 | name | adress | state |

2 | name1 | adress1 | state1 |

3 | name2 | adress2 | state2 |

etc

i whant to read 1 , name , adress, state and put them in a xls doc

its that possible?
