Word Automation of PictureFormat Compress

I have over 7000 word documents that each contains a large signature image. Now, space is becoming an issue and looking for easier way to compress these images. I have a macro to delete existing image and insert small image works but it screws up the alignment sometimes.

So... Is there way to automate Word PictureFormat Compress built-in feature?

Probably a Microsoft office macro, that is attached to a custom button on the tool bar.

Its about the only way i can think of.

I'll see what I can come up with for this. It would help if you could provide a sample document and the replacement image.
