Control SetText of a ComboBox?

I'm copying data from one application to another, and everything works fine except for a ComboBox. The ComboBox contains

"Select Gender", "Male", "Female" and I would expect I could do the following:

controlsettext("Patient card","","[CLASS:TComboBox; INSTANCE:2]",$gender)

where $gender = "Male"

but it has no effect. I suppose I can select the box then send keystrokes, but it seems odd.

Since you want to select it by string, look up _GUICtrlComboSelectString() in the help file.
