Timer Function

In Visual Basic you got this sort of timers that always load and ignore all other commands and execute other commands. Could it be possible to also make this in AutoIT ? Because the only function know is : Timerdiff and Timerstart and they only check when you asked for them again (So when executing a function that takes for sure 10 seconds or so all your other vars will not be updated or a demotimer will not run.)
