Reading text via autoit?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, this is my first post...

I have made a few autoit programs and wanted to add more functionality to them...

For this however, I need autoit to somehow read text on a screen and do the appropriate action.

For example I was making a selling macro for an mmo, where when I am not online my shop can still respond to peoples request.

I will give you an arbitrary example:

Customer: Are you willing to bargain?

(My autoit bot detects the word 'bargain' and responds)

Me: If you want to bargain on any item pm me

This would also be useful on web pages when comparing the price of things, where the bot scans the prices and detrmines the cheapest one.

I did a search on 'read text' in the forums and found one thread using a function that gets the text between two strings and stores it as a variable. However what if there is list of many of these strings all identical except for the theing betwen them. For example:

Price: 390 units

Price: 391 units

Thank you for any help in advance...

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Please help...

I would suggest that you start with User Defined functions >> IE management in the help file and pay particular attention to _IEBodyReadText(). Once you have the text there are a few methods that will work. Once you are able to get the text post back and someone can help you from there.
